ENGLISH WINTER FAIR - DAY TWO

Day Two of the English Winter Fair on Sunday 16th November 2025 at the Staffordshire County Showground did not disappoint with a number of highlights celebrated by the Club.

Belgian Blues Solwayview Ultravilot (Kevin Watret), Crackleybank Ubelter (Paul Walker) and Redmires Ugem (A Mills)

Winning the Duke of Norfolk Trophy, a magnificent Interbreed spectacle contested by nine breeds, was the Belgian Blue trio with Limousins in Reserve under judge George Young, Market Rasen, Lincs.

An outstanding line-up of nine teams comprising Blues, Limousins, Blondes, Shorthorns, Simmentals, Charolais, Longhorns, Angus and Herefords competed.

Earlier in the day, Club Secretary Richard Saunders had presented the Duchess of Devonshire trophy for the first time at the EWF to Teresa Cook, Millfield Herd, Orford, Suffolk for her Gloucester Old Spots taking home the Traditional Pairs of Pigs award.

This was the culmination of a successful year for Mrs Cook having previously won 6 championships at 6 shows for her GOS and Large Whites.

Judged by Jim Mulholland, the RABI Single Butchers Lamb award and with it the Smithfield trophy was won by Messrs Madders & Johnson with their Beltex-cross. Club Trustee Geoff Burgess making the presentation.

Judged on Saturday, the Beef Ribs Champion came from EW Coates & Michael Wynne with M & HD Currie in Reserve

Lamb Saddle Champion & Reserve both came from Stephen Hill, Perry’s of Eccleshall
