Simon was born in Oxfordshire and farmed both there and in Gloucestershire where he kept a large herd of pigs. A move to Northumberland in 1987 brought a change to arable and sheep along with a herd of Aberdeen Angus cattle. A Trustee of the Royal Agricultural Society of the Commonwealth, and its Honorary Press Officer, Simon first stewarded pigs at Smithfield in 1980. He is a Fellow of the Royal Agricultural Societies. Simon is serving his second year as Chairman in 2024.
